Medival Madness

The Game of Thrones ( officially my favorite show 3) on Yes VOD is a TV adaption of George R.R. Martin's books, a Song of Ice and Fire. It is difficult to translate books into movies or TV shows, however the producers captured the essence of the Story. The characters, cast, scenery and costumes all look incredible,Down to the styling of the Hair. The pilot episode was an amazing achievement, ranking one of the most expensive pilots made to date, as well as signing the following day to start production on the second season. There are two characters in particular that I personally think will bring 'medieval chic' hairstyles into fashion. Cersei-Lannister, Queen of the Seven Kingdoms has the most beautiful long honey colored locks.( Even if it is a wig)
Medieval hairstyles were a display of wealth, and high status females normally wore their hair long and curly. Medieval hair styles are still fairly popular in this day and age for weddings and other special events. The Long waves were created using a hair waving machine, rather then a regular curling iron.
The medieval era was one of great religious beliefs and witchcraft. Because of this, it heavily reflected on the styles worn by women and even men back in those days. Braids were hugely popular and were often worn in the back of the head, similar to the other so called queen, Daenerys, Married to the leader of a Dothraki.

If you haven't seen the show I highly recommend checking it out!

Cannes Film Festival 2011

I  love the Cannes Film Festival. The first few days on the red carpet have been full of looks from the spring 2011 runways and haute couture shows. Here’s a summary of my favorite looks from Cannes 2011

I Have to start with The Israeli Artists, they all looked the part for the red carpet at the opening ceremony of the festival. The men scrubbed up really well and looked polished, all clean shaven in their Tuxes, and Alma Zak looked outstanding in her Victor Balaish vintage inspired gown and wavy graduated bob. Stunning!!!

Yuval Srafs up style was elegant and chic. I loved the texture of the ponytail and the way the shorter pieces had loosened up, and framed her face. The color is also beautiful.
Uma Thurman was glowing on the red carpet. I loved her loosely pinned updo. The messy style was worn with Emerald earnings, and a feather gown from Versace Spring 2011 collection.

Salma Hayek walked the red carpet for the opening ceremony of The Cannes Film Festival. She chose a side swept look with soft curls. As beautiful as she looks I feel that shes wore that style to death already! Get a little more adventurous Salma.

Rachel McAdams looked flawless wearing a red embroidered gown with soft curls ( defiantly some extensions)  at the premier of " Midnight in Paris". The following day at the premier of " Sleeping Beauty" her hair looked naturally beautiful with the front pinned back into a modern quiff.

Talking before about effortless beauty!Angelina Jolie attended a photo call for "Kung Fu Panda 2". She wore flesh tone colors from heat to toe and natural hair! She is truly blessed with beauty and amazing hair! Or maybe her hairstylist is a genius.
Diane Kruger walked the red carpet for the premiere of "Sleeping Beauty" in a Metalic gold gown, and wore her hair swept to one side in a messy braid. I love the braided look however I feel that her hair is a little to scraggly for such a style. A few clip in extensions would have given the braid a little more volume.

Sarah Jessica Parker attends the "Wu Xia" premiere during the Festival in France. Her Messy side bun was the perfect look for her amazing dress.

For The red carpet premier the following day she wore her hair wavy in a center parting paired up with a dress from D&G.
Karolina Kurkova wore an amazing mermaid inspired Armani gown paired with tight retro curls and dazzling Cartier jewels to the opening ceremony at Cannes.

The supermodel wore a Chanel Spring 2011 black feathered dress, with her hair slicked back into a messy bun. She also wore a headband with similar detailing.
