According to the BBC Hair salons throughout America are on alert as a growing number of thefts involving hair extensions. Apparently the most recent events took place in Atlanta where a group of thugs rammed a car into a beauty supply store, and got away with extensions to the value of nearly NIS 40,000. In Houston, one raid at 'My Trendy Place' hair salon earned the perpetrators NIS 480,000 worth of Indian "virgin hair"(best quality hair). The saddest thing about the raid in Texas is that the hair was to be used for cancer patients! Houston Police said the burglars are selling the stolen hair on eBay, Craigslist or more informally from the boot of their cars. An estimated NIS 400 000 000 is spent globally on hair extensions each year.
